Fiji-born and Great Britain Paralympian, Derek Derenalagi may be the Vodafone Fiji Bati's ambassador at the Rugby League World Cup in England but, he's also preparing himself for the Olympic Games in 2016.

The discus thrower has already started training and lined up some world championship events to participate in next year, to help build his Games qualification points.

"I'm getting into championships in Europe. For example, the European Championship and the World Championship in Qatar in 2015. In order for any athlete to qualify you have to build up and that's why I'm starting to prepare for the European Championship in August 2014. Everything is okay training wise and I'm, just looking forward to the new season next year."

Derenalagi says he will also be training for a second event at the Olympic Games which is Shot Put.

This month though, Derenalagi will be the Fiji Bati's ambassador which will see him escorting the RLWCtrophy to the middle of the field when Fiji takes on England next week.
