Lance Corporal Matt Croucher GC, a Military Speaker, is a Royal Marine who was awarded the George Cross after he threw himself on a live grenade, whilst serving in Afghanistan, to save the lives of his comrades. Amazingly, he walked away from this with only a nosebleed after he used his rucksack to absorb the blast.

This weekend Matt will be escorting 22-year-old Blind Veterans UK member Fusilier Shaun Stocker to London's cenotaph at the Memorial Service in Whitehall. Shaun lost both his legs and his sight in an IED blast while serving in Afghanistan in 2010.

This promises to be a particularly humbling moment as one hero will guide another to the cenotaph on Remembrance Day.
