Corporal Andy Reid lost both his legs and his right arm after stepping on an IED plate whilst serving with the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment in Afghanistan in 2009.
He astounded people with his recovery, spending only 2 weeks in hospital before returning home.
A testament to his attitude in overcoming such adversity, he doesn't let the severity of his injuries stop him from going forward with a positive mindset. Andy has been skydiving and took part in a 10K Run. He won The Sun's Millie Award for Overcoming Adversity in 2010.
Andy has recently finished his autobiography 'Standing Tall'.
He is an Ambassador for the ABF Soldier Charity, as well as a motivational speaker, working with some of the UK's leading companies.
Andy is an accomplished speaker, having spoken at numerous corporate engagements. His incredible story is one that has a lasting effect on all who hear him speak, his testimonials are evidence of this.
Andy has recently been selected for the GB talent squad in para-triathlon and has great aspirations for the next Olympics in Brazil.

Overcoming Adversity
Coping with change
"Andy's presentation at our recent ASDA leadership event was an inspiration to us all. Completely different to motivational speakers we've heard before, Andy's incredible story transformed the attitude and outlook of the audience. He showed us what can be achieved with the right attitude and ambition - and how to focus on fully using the resources we can control, not dwelling on those we can't.
His talk was an excellent way to start a day on business strategy, setting the tone of positive can-do thinking, and an atmosphere of mutual respect around the room. If you seek a truly inspiration story, then I would strongly recommend Andy Reid"
ASDA"Corporal Reid is one of that rare breed who makes one's shoulders reIax in an instant, despite his story crashing between haunting reality and gargantuan achievement.
When the interview reaches its end, one is filled with two urges, the first is to burst into tears and pledge lifetime allegiance to the ABF, and the second is to drag him to the nearest pub for the rest of the evening. I challenge anyone who meets Corporal Reid to not be inspired by and stand in awe of him."
S.C.Davies & Co"We were honoured to have had Andy as our headline speaker at three events we ran in 2011. His story touched the hearts of everyone in the audience, but it was his courage in the face of extreme adversity and his fantastic ability to overcome obstacles that resonated deeply with our professional audience. The feedback we had was superb and I would have no hesitation in recommending him for future speaking engagements."
Ascentric"Andy was fantastic, he came and delivered a speech to the entire St Helens RFC Squad before the Wigan elimination match. His story was motivating, inspiring and showed the players how to overcome adversity"
St Helen's Rugby League Football ClubAndy's talk was excellent - both thought-provoking and inspiring. He has a very down-to-earth and engaging style of delivery. I've had good feedback from a number of staff that attended the event.
